In some ways, concealer could become a kind of best friend for the woman over 40. Dark circles under the eye, fine lines, age spots or darker areas on the face, the occasional bump or blemish. On any given day, there could be lots of concealer opportunities raising their hands. But one possible challenge is using concealer without it settling into the fine lines. Or finding one that actually works with your dark circles. Well, stay tuned for tips that might make your concealer friendship a better one. Five Tips for Using Concealer for Women Over 40(1) If you have fine lines that tend to grab your makeup, do two things: use an eye cream regularly & apply a setting spray first to make it easier for the concealer to smooth on (2) Use concealer on dark spots before putting on your foundation (3) Match the texture or weight of the concealer you use to your skin. If it is dry, use a creamy concealer. If it is thin, use one that is lightweight. If you have dry, textured under eyes, you’ll want a creamy concealer instead of a stick formula. Stick formulas tend to be drier, which magnifies the area it covers. The same goes for the rest of your face. A creamier consistency will mask any texture, fine lines, and wrinkles. - Lisa J., makeup artist (4) Choose the right color for your concealer. Lisa J. recommends a peachy color for darker undereye areas to help neutralize that darkness. Other makeup artists recommend choosing a closely matching shade, but one that is slightly lighter than your own skin. (5) Use fewer layers. One way to do that is not to add foundation under your eyes. And if you decide to use a primer or color corrector, use it lightly. Do you use concealer? See you tomorrow! Love, Jeanine P.S. Oh, that's so interesting! That makes me think it could be hereditary. Now, you have me trying to remember my mom's skin. I think we might have both had an imperfection in common, too - the same spot - and on my cheek, it doesn't take makeup well. She didn't wear makeup, so it didn't affect her, but it has long been an irritant for me!
