A Fond Farewell to the UBC, Fall Edition

As always happens, we have come to the end of this 30-day blog challenge, and I think we are to be congratulated for making it to the end, whether we published 31 blog posts or not. But this time around, I am particularly proud of myself for making it through an entire month of blogging.

The UBC was Everywhere & Sometimes Nowhere

I have spent the past three months wrapped up in the process of moving! I was looking for a place to move to, preparing to move, beginning to move, completing the move, and unpacking the move.

Then, came the process of getting to know my new home, assessing its needs and trying to meet them. So while I was choosing and writing the blog posts for this challenge, posting them each day during the challenge, reading your blog posts, leaving comments, and tweeting, I also was moving.

And not without difficulty. For one thing, I still don't have the Internet. I've been using a hotspot to get online and for quite a bit of that time, due to going past the limits, the entire experience was s l o w e d down.

But here I am, at the finish line! Whoo hoo!! :)

Did you run into any unusual difficulties this time around?

Fall Style 2020: Brought to You by the Letter C

I have been finding that with each new UBC experience, since the reporting of the outbreak of COVID-19, that it has been an altogether different experience than I was having before. And so it has been, with fall.

One thing I miss is the sense of excitement I used to feel each time.

And the thrill of seeing my blog stats jump in amazing ways as more women were able to find me. Sometimes, I would get thousands more a month.
Picture

And I know my good UBC friend, Martha DeMeo who blogs at The Martha Review, is still experiencing record-breaking stats, and maybe some of you are, too? But I am not.

Which I understand. Though the everyday fashionistas are still interested in knowing what each new season brings, there is a lot going on right now to distract them from doing anything about it, or even from paying close attention to it.

Have you felt that way about your own blog topic or focus?

I think I am going to play it by ear where January is concerned. I have a blog challenge coming up in December and we'll see how that goes.

Glad you other bloggers were here this month!

Happy Holidays!! See you when 2020 is finally, blessedly, behind us.

Love, Jeanine

Hey Jeanine, this is the first time I have completed this blog challenge having written 31 blog posts. Like you, I had setbacks. Mine was major renovations on my house. When they started, I was working from home because of the lockdown. In the middle of the month, I had to head back out to work. That changed my routine and writing dynamic, but I had committed to completing this challenge so no matter what got left undone, I wrote every day. I'm ready for a breather while I put my house back in order. I'm thinking about your December challenge.

Hi Jeanine! You have been busy and you did an amazing job hanging in! My stats are not improving either, but I am going to keep at it. Like so many working hard to build a business presence in the online world. It is a interesting process, but one worth attempting! Maybe one day soon we will notice things begin to shift, fingers crossed and hard word to support the change will do the trick I am sure! Take care see you in January if not sooner!

My stats pleased me this month and best of all, I started developing a new style for me of writing on my blog. I'm happy with how people responded to it and found it entertaining.
I did miss one day mid-month as it was our big shopping for groceries trip for the month. Wore me out.

You did awesome, Jeanine with so many challenges. I finished this one but I'm not working. Still I find it takes time and energy writing. I did well during the first half reading others posts but bombed out towards the end. My stats are nothing to brag about but I'm not writing for that. And I don't have a business. I do like writing and it is thereapy for me.

Thank you, Lily!! And congrats on finishing the challenge. I can see how writing could be therapeutic. I used to keep journals, but haven't in years now.

Hi Jeanine, I too moved recently. Adjusting to a much smaller space has been a big challenge, but I am adapting and am happy. This month for me has been crazy busy with working on a friend's Congressional campaign, doing various art projects, and my photography, as well as working as an election inspector. I have truly enjoyed your blog. You have reframed fashion for me, from fashion is only for the tall and good looking (I know that I'm not the first and had been told for many years that I was not the second) to fashion is empowerment for all. This means so much to me. Thank you, Jeanine, and I look forward to seeing you in the December challenge!

I moved to a smaller place, too! But it's cute, so I like it. Wow, you have been super busy, too!! Doing good for us all. Thank you so much, Alice! I am SO glad that you are now seeing it that way. See you for December's challenge.

Congratulations for finishing with everything that is going on in your life! My ststs improved a bit so I will keep plugging along! I also will consider the challenge in December -- but really I would have to decide between the December and January ones! It has been great getting to know you this month!

Back PP (Pre-pandemic) when I traveled world-wide at the drop of a hat (sometimes before the hat was even in my hand to drop it), I, too, had to rely on hot-spots (which often felt lukewarm...)

    Hi, I'm Jeanine Byers :)

I'm an author,  Christian image consultant, proud former homeschool boy mom of a college student, Hallmark movie fan and big cuppa tea drinker.

I believe that creating your signature style is a spiritual calling. It's about seeing yourself as God does and delighting in your own beauty and style.

I'm specializing in color analysis and signature style for black women.

As women of color, we often aren't analyzed correctly when we receive color analysis. And all of our lives, we have been given sometimes subtle, and sometimes more overt societal messages about not meeting the cultural standards of beauty.

My mission is to help you discover, embrace and celebrate your own beauty and style.

Thanks for dropping by! I'll see you soon.

    Love, Jeanine
