At the beginning of the five-day fall fashion challenge, each participant was asked to raise their hand and solemnly swear - okay, not really, but promise - that they would not buy anything until the challenge was over. No matter how inspired you feel, don't jump the gun! And even though I am one of the image consultants in the group, I decided to do the challenge, too, for fun. So mentally, I made the same promise. And then, this happened... Dreaming of OliveSo, olive is the suggested fall trend color for y color type to focus on, and I already have olive in my fall capsule wardrobe. Several times over. But I don't have an olive duster. So as I went through my current wardrobe, and the color palette I have in mind for fall, I realized that I wouldn't need to buy much. Maybe an olive cardigan, and an ivory top with thicker fabric than the one I have for summer. And having decided that, I got a little itchy. I knew I could wait. But I also knew I would be going to Wal-Mart to shop for groceries. And it wouldn't hurt just to have a peek at what they have t offer, right? On the other hand, let me be honest! Their inventory turns over faster than I ever expect. I have gone back more than once, only to find that the top/cardi/whatever was gone. So the truth is, I knew that if I found it and it fit, I would probably buy it. And sure enough, they did have an olive jacket. But it was not a duster; it was a zip-up hoodie. Still, I decided to try it on. And I picked one more item I thought might work. But Here's What I Bought, InsteadY'all, I wandered all over the store, trying to find a mirror! The dressing rooms were off limits, but I wasn't going to just buy it and hope for the best. So I tried to remember where else they had mirrors. The shoe department? Nope, that one was gone. Finally, I found one - guess where - on the mirror aisle! I'll know where to look first, next time, right? The verdict - the hoodie jacket was too boxy/bulky, and I just didn't like it. But the other thing I chose was a straight up winner! I felt like it fit me as if it was made for me. And so, it came home with me! What was it? And animal print cardigan duster. Love it! And, as you can see, it will go with all of my other fall color palette colors: olive, burnt orange, dark brown and ivory. But I did break my promise. Want to know why? Unlike the other participants, I know what's coming. And I know it will fit right in with what comes at the end of the challenge. Still not too late to join! See you tomorrow! Love, Jeanine

Five-Day Fall Fashion Challenge: Today's Topic - MakeupMakeup was the today's topic. Shari Braendel, from Fashion Meets Faith, talked about how to organize what's in your makeup drawer. She also shared the 8 makeup items everyone should use, and which of those are absolutely mission critical. She gave makeup application tips and then, offered color suggestions based on your dominant color type. Finally, the homework was to clear out old or unused makeup and make a list of what you need right now. Five-Day Fall Fashion Challenge: Tomorrow it's in the JeansAnd in the genes, presumably! Because tomorrow's video lesson and challenge will be about finding the right pair of jeans for your body shape. She will review some of the common body challenges and how that can make it difficult to find jeans that fit, and then give you guidelines for fining your best pair. Don't miss it if you've been on the quest for the perfect pair! Here's how to join. See you tomorrow! Love, Jeanine Hey, beloveds! In yesterday's post, I gave you five reasons to join the free 5-day fall fashion challenge. But as I have been participating in it for the past two days, I think I definitely undersold it. In this post, I'll give you some of the highlights, so far, and then, I encourage you to join it, if you haven't already. It's not too late, because each day, there's been a video for that day's challenge, and you can find those in the challenge group. Closets, Closets, ClosetsPardon that headline! I was watching Modern Family last night. ;) So, day one laid the groundwork for the 5-day challenge. My mentor, image consultant trainer and friend, Shari Braendel, from Fashion Meets Faith, is leading this challenge and she says you have to start with your closet. I agree, because even though closet work can be the chore part of the extravaganza, it will make everything else SO much easier. She gives you a list of steps to take to get your closet ready, that include clearing out summer's wardrobe, and re-evaluating what you have planned for fall. But the first step is to take everything out of your closet, and the second is to organize them on your bed. You'll see why this makes perfect sense when you listen to her video. Fall Trends
In today's video, she shares all the fall trends we can choose from as we create our fall capsule wardrobe. I gave you a list of them recently, myself, in this post, on five trends you can wear at home. But I like the way she presented them and gave tips along the way for how to incorporate them. When she got to the fall trend colors, she gave one to each color dominant type. My type, warm dominant, gets olive, for example. And score, I already have quite a bit of it in my wardrobe. Which brings me to today's challenge... The Fall Treasure Hunt
Here's a free fill-in-the-blank worksheet I created, that you can download and print to do your own treasure hunt. Just watch the video first, because she gave us quite a list of possibles to look for today. ![]()
The Outfit FormulaIn the video, Shari cautioned us against trying to wear too many trends at once. And she gave us an outfit formula that you can use to create a look that is just right. I highly recommend joining the 5-day challenge & watching these first two videos. They are full of style tips you can use this fall. See you there! Love, Jeanine |
My mission is to help you discover, embrace and celebrate your own beauty and style.
Thanks for dropping by! I'll see you soon. Love, Jeanine Archives
