Are There Colors Every Woman Can Wear?

Do you remember the old Dr. Pepper commercial? It went something like, “I’m a pepper, he’s a pepper, she’s a pepper, we’re a pepper. Wouldn’t you like to be a pepper, too?”

If you know me, you know I used to sing along. The idea was that Dr. Pepper was perfect for everyone.

But are there colors that anyone can wear?

We know that there are versions of every color that everyone can wear. So, for example, your best red might be different from my best red, but we both have one.

But are there specific colors - for example, a particular red, or other colors - that everyone can wear? That's our question today!

Universal Colors

I believe that there are a few colors that everyone can wear. But not as many as some say. And I'm still not sure we don't need to identify which versions of them are best for each person.

Purple is said to be one of them. But all purples?

I've heard the same thing about teal. And clear red.

But if I pick out a color that I would say is teal, will you agree? And does clear red mean pure red, or a very bright, and intense, but navy red?

Since everyone's mileage may vary, I encourage you to try it before you buy it no matter what the color is.

But now, let's get specific about a Pantone color that just may be a color that each color home can wear. Check it out to see if you think you could wear it.

Grape Compote

When someone comes to me for color analysis, I give them a virtual palette of 43 colors. But I also give them the season’s Pantone colors that are a match for their type.

During this spring and summer (2020), grape compote is one of the colors every color type was given. And that color is available in stores and catalogs right now.

However, I think it's possible that the version you see might be too dark or too cool or too warm or too bright for your coloring. Especially if you're considering wearing it just under your face.

You might be better wearing it in smaller doses. or combined with your best versions of purple.

But it is certainly not off limits.

Watch this video to see some possible combinations with monochromatic, analogous, tetradic, triadic &complementary colors. Then, you can see possible complementary color combos using the colors in each color home.

What did you think? Would you wear this color?

See you tomorrow!

Love, Jeanine

That is a beautiful combination! Might be my favorite, too, though I liked them all.

I especially liked parakeet and the other greens. Somehow these colors - especially in combination - make me feel more cheerful!

    Hi, I'm Jeanine Byers :)

I'm an author,  Christian image consultant, proud former homeschool boy mom of a college student, Hallmark movie fan and big cuppa tea drinker.

I believe that creating your signature style is a spiritual calling. It's about seeing yourself as God does and delighting in your own beauty and style.

I'm specializing in color analysis and signature style for black women.

As women of color, we often aren't analyzed correctly when we receive color analysis. And all of our lives, we have been given sometimes subtle, and sometimes more overt societal messages about not meeting the cultural standards of beauty.

My mission is to help you discover, embrace and celebrate your own beauty and style.

Thanks for dropping by! I'll see you soon.

    Love, Jeanine
