3 Reasons You Shouldn't Get Dressed without Getting Color Analyzed First

Picture

3 Reasons You Should Consider Color Analysis

(1) The wrong colors change the way people perceive you. It's you but also "not you" that they see when they see you coming.

(2) You can't create a capsule wardrobe without choosing several colors to be its foundation. But you won't know what the best colors are, to choose, unless you know what colors light you up & make you glow.

(3) If you try to create a makeup capsule to match your wardrobe, but you're not wearing the right colors, then your makeup won't look right, either.

Have you ever been color analyzed?

See you tomorrow!

Love, Jeanine

Love the pic, and I’m sure I’ve thought “I’m not sure about that lipstick” a few times in my life!. I’ve never had my colours done.

Ha! I have had the same thought, Bernadine. :) I have found color analysis to be life-changing. Or, maybe I should say, wearing the right colors and seeing myself in them. Transformative!

Love the image- and yes, this would make me think twice about getting dressed- why would I do that to a dog? LOL! Yikes, those colors aren't right for a dog- a dog should be natural! You had me at the image! Are you going to color analyze me tomorrow? I'm a Long Islander with a fashion sense of COMFORT over how I look to others- HELP!! LOL!!

I love that picture, too, Pamela! But you're right. Why would anyone do that to a dog, LOL? maybe they need color analysis, too. You know, I think comfort can be quite stylish when you know how to match the desire for comfort to your own body's shapes & lines & whatnot. And I would love to do your color analysis - that would be fun!

Your note reminds me of a story (way too long) from my childhood. When one of my parent's friend's moms came down to the dining hall (The Catskills) to which her husband announced (in a deliberate accent)- Dis is Shoiley? Did is NOT Shoiley? Whatchoo dink about dat?

I think everyone should - you'll never feel more beautiful than when you are wearing colors that love you! But on the other hand, how you feel matters, too, and if the wrong colors *feel* good, I say wear them (at home ;)).

A long time ago I did the "warm/cool" color analysis and I remember the seasonal color analysis but it has been a long time. Purple is a trademark color of mine,, but I know there are lots of shades of purple!

Hi, Julie! :) Purple is beautiful. How neat that it's your fave. But you're right - it comes in lots of shades, and you will love it even more when you wear the ones that have your name on them.

Oh.My.Goodness! That poor dog! But I do admit I had to laugh. I also couldn't help but wonder what my husband would do to me if I did something like that to our boxer!

On a more serious note, I've never had my colors done (I think it would be kind of fun) and I'm not big on makeup. As for clothing....doesn't black go with everything or is it the other way around?

I know, that poor dog! But you know, it's kind of the other way around, with black. Not that many people look really good in it. Many just get away with it, and people look at the color ore than at them. Your (or anyone's) "black" is the color that will make people look at you, rather than the outfit alone, and see your beauty.

I used to support my friends who sold makeup but always felt frustrated because none could tell me what colors would work for my skin tone, hair, eye color, etc. Those also change based on the season so I was always making guesses. Now I'm selling myself and love to help when I can. As for myself, I am terrible about wearing neutral colors that don't really accent anything. I am hoping to get out of that habit!

I think neutrals can be really beautiful! But I do love playing with color. Like you, I sell makeup, too, and am glad to be able to recommend the right colors.

Knowing what makes you look your best is so important. I have a particular color of turquoise (teal/blue) that my wardrobe is built around, and after living and traveling in an RV for a few years, knowing that every single piece of my wardrobe fit together was so important. Even now, when I pack to travel with my husband, it's ridiculously easy because it's all built around one color and what compliments that color... I don't wear makeup (except some mascara), so that's never been an issue for me. Great points here, Jeanine!

I love that you have built a wardrobe around a color that looks great on you!! It's exciting. If I could do that, my colors would be oranges, browns and rusts. I do have all three colors, but also others. Maybe someday I will have a one-color-themed capsule.

I would really enjoy a color analysis. I have noticed that, sometimes, colors I wear really seem to look good on me, but it is just a happy accident. It would be great to know for sure what works and what doesn't. I am very much looking forward to more of this series! But lipstick on a dog. That is probably not its best look, lol.

Ha! No, probably not. I know exactly what you mean about not just wanting the right colors to be a happy accident. Knowing what yours are empowers you to look beautiful whenever you want.

OMG that picture reminds me of a little one getting into mommy's make-up! LOL I've never worn make-up nor been color analyzed. When it comes to colors I usually do my own thing and dress for comfort.

I believe that creating your signature style is a spiritual calling. It's about seeing yourself as God does and delighting in your own beauty and style.

I'm specializing in color analysis and signature style for black women.

As women of color, we often aren't analyzed correctly when we receive color analysis. And all of our lives, we have been given sometimes subtle, and sometimes more overt societal messages about not meeting the cultural standards of beauty.

My mission is to help you discover, embrace and celebrate your own beauty and style.

Thanks for dropping by! I'll see you soon.

    Love, Jeanine
