The Ooh La La of Working from Home

Would it be fun to bring a little French style into your work wardrobe?

If you are unexpectedly working from home right now, you may not want to dress as formally as you do at work or as casually as you do at home. But if you're also working fewer hours, you may not have the budget for a big spend to add to your wardrobe.

One common French style practice is to add five new pieces to your core wardrobe for each new season. Here, I am suggesting five that you can add to use for those times when you are working from home but will be seen on video by employers, colleagues, clients, etc. You may already own one or two of them...

The 5-Piece French Girl Work-from-Home Capsule Wardrobe

a blazer
a button-down top
a floral neck scarf or two
a bozy, jacket-look cardigan
a pair of cropped pants

Use these pieces to upgrade & transform your outfits for those times when you have to work from home but have contact with others. Not only are you likely to feel more confident, you may find it helps to make those work days more fun.

Which of these five piece would you most like to use in a work from home ensemble?

See you next time!

Love, Jeanine

I've never felt comfortable wearing blazers so I like that sweather idea better. Plus a nice soft shirt underneath it. Something that feels comfortable but is dressy enough for Zoom meetings! Oh what a different world we live in!

I used to wear blazers all the time for work, years ago, but I think I would feel weird weird wearing them now. But they would make it easy to create a French look.

Gotta love the French sense of style! I think I'll put my infinity scarf on today for that je ne sais quoi. :D

I like these ideas. I'm a stay-at-home mom, but I've actually been taking a bit more care in dressing up for the day as I've been blogging more. It give me the motivation to keep going. I think I'll try incorporating some of those articles of clothing in the weeks to come.

Great ideas! Cropped pants and button down top sounds like me. When our children were young, our decorating business was run out of our home. I always get the girls and me dressed as if we were going out.

Thanks! Oh, right, so this "should I bother getting dressed?" thing everyone is dealing with now that we're all stuck at home isn't really an issue for you, because you've been doing it all along. I haven't been, so I'm excited every time I get dressed. :)

    Hi, I'm Jeanine Byers :)

I'm an author,  Christian image consultant, proud former homeschool boy mom of a college student, Hallmark movie fan and big cuppa tea drinker.

I believe that creating your signature style is a spiritual calling. It's about seeing yourself as God does and delighting in your own beauty and style.

I'm specializing in color analysis and signature style for black women.

As women of color, we often aren't analyzed correctly when we receive color analysis. And all of our lives, we have been given sometimes subtle, and sometimes more overt societal messages about not meeting the cultural standards of beauty.

My mission is to help you discover, embrace and celebrate your own beauty and style.

Thanks for dropping by! I'll see you soon.

    Love, Jeanine
