Love Letter to Women of Color

Picture
"You are altogether beautiful, my love; there is no flaw in you" - Song of Solomon 4:7

Dear Woman of Color,

You have no idea how beautiful you are. But I can tell you how to find out, and I will before this love letter is over.

For now, though, let's get back to your beauty. If you are a woman of color, I would bet money that you don't know how beautiful you are.

I believe that most women are challenged to get all the way to adulthood with full awareness of their beauty, but it's particularly true for black women.

We have been told - sometimes, explicitly, and sometimes, implicitly - that we don't fit the criteria for beauty. And we often struggle to find the makeup, and sometimes even the clothes, that showcase our beauty.

And historically, when we have tried color analysis, we have often been analyzed wrong. Self analysis information often used examples that didn't help us.

So we have often had to find our own way when it comes to what would support our beauty.

And it's time to reclaim our beauty and to flip the switch that will change everything. The first step is to find out which colors to put under your face.

Because when you do, you will see your beauty come to life. And once you know those colors, you'll be empowered to choose the clothes and the makeup that will make your light shine even more.

That's when you will see it. You'll know just how beautiful you truly are!

Here's how to get started: take the free color analysis quiz. It was created with you in mind.

I have no doubt that you'll be glad you did.

Blessings as you continue this journey!

Love, Jeanine

How beautiful and what a great message to send to those who may not feel they are beautiful. BTW, your beauty shines through with your tangerine top and olive green scarf!

What a lovely message. I’m sure everyone has been told at one point or another in their lives that their looks don’t measure up to the crazy definitions of beauty shown in magazines. Personally, I’d like to know how magazine writers and clothing manufacturers come up with the colors & styles they deem popular. It’s little wonder I hate shopping for clothes. Everyone is beautiful in their own way.

I agree, completely, Nancy! When you have been handed a standard of beauty that excludes you, and thus, don't feel very confident about your own beauty, shopping can be hazardous to your health.

I love your message. It is the work of an angel. Those who help others see the beauty in themselves.

What a beautiful & inspiring message. I love it. It is sad when people are told that they are not beautiful, just because of the color of their skin. It is even sadder when they believe it. I know about believing messages of "you are not beautiful" because I've lived it. I was told that tall is beautiful, short is blah. I was told that my hair was too curly. I was told that girls who wear glasses can never be lovely. I believed every one of them... until I learned how to draw pictures of people. Then I sat on public transportation and really looked at people. Tall people, short people, black people, Hispanic people... and I realized that they were all beautiful. All were worthy of having their portrait painted. And that I don't have to accept some "standard of beauty" that puts a few on a pedestal while making the rest of us sad and insecure.

Yay!!! Whoo hoo! That's beautiful, Alice. I can see how being open as you learned to draw people could help you begin to realize that what you were told was not true. It's awful that anyone would come to believe those kinds of statements, but even more awful to be told so directly. Glad you know the truth now.

Jeanine, love this message. And totally agree with it...
Only recently, a decades old "fairness" cream called Fair and Lovely sold across India was rebranded dropping the 'Fair' from its name. This happened after the BLM movement here in the US..there truly is a ripple effect

I believe women of all color struggle knowing how beautiful they are not only on the inside but the outside as well and I am so glad your helping women find this out.

    Hi, I'm Jeanine Byers :)

I'm an author,  Christian image consultant, proud former homeschool boy mom of a college student, Hallmark movie fan and big cuppa tea drinker.

I believe that creating your signature style is a spiritual calling. It's about seeing yourself as God does and delighting in your own beauty and style.

I'm specializing in color analysis and signature style for black women.

As women of color, we often aren't analyzed correctly when we receive color analysis. And all of our lives, we have been given sometimes subtle, and sometimes more overt societal messages about not meeting the cultural standards of beauty.

My mission is to help you discover, embrace and celebrate your own beauty and style.

Thanks for dropping by! I'll see you soon.

    Love, Jeanine
