Winter sometimes ends slowly, like a cold that leaves behind a long-lingering cough. So you may have put your coat away, but kept out other pieces of winter wardrobe, just in case. If April is the month you'll say a final goodbye, here are some tips for what to include as you put away your winter clothes that will make your next winter style season a better one... 3 Tips for Putting Away Your Winter Capsule WardrobeThe first thing to do is to let go of anything that no longer fits, has too much wear and tear, or for whatever reason should not be a part of your next winter capsule wardrobe. Confession: I often break one part of this rule. My weight fluctuates, and hanging on to some of the clothes that no longer fit saves me money in the long run. So I guess, since you know yourself best, this could be a rule you might break, too. But less is more when it comes to peaceful choices and an easy capsule wardrobe, so in general, if you're not going to wear it - get rid of it. :) And once you clear out the riff raff, here's what you can do with the clothes you plan to keep... (1) Take Pictures: if you haven't been taking pictures of yourself all along, give yourself a day to try on all of your winter clothes and take pictures of yourself in each outfit. Do a complete head-to-toe look, choosing the accessories you would wear with it, and for each outfit that you know is one of your bests, take a picture. Then, create a collage you can either store online, or print and store with the clothes. This tip is a great way to make sure you remember the outfits that were your favorite, that you want to be sure to wear next winter. The picture below is my own winter collage... (2) Write Love Notes: if you identified any outfits that were ideal for particular occasions, write that down and include that when you put them away. So, if you loved a particular outfit for date night, or eating out with friends, this way you can be sure to remember that when the winter season returns. (3) The Wish List: if there was anything you thought would be perfect to add to this outfit or that one, but you couldn't find it, make a list so you can start looking early and find it to enjoy next winter. Or there might be clothes you want to keep but have altered before next winter. Make a note of them, too, on your wish list. For example, I fell in love with animation and detail this winter, but some of those outfits could have used even more. For example, a printed scarf to go with a striped top, or shoes to add one more repetition of a color (like grey ones or the beige ones I used to have). Write those ideas down and you'll have them to prepare your next winter capsule wardrobe before you need it. What were some of your favorite winter outfits? Tell me in a comment. See you next time! An interesting read - coming from the UK I feel my favourite winter outfit has to be my big padded waterproof rugby trench coat

Yes, isn't that wonderful?!! Hmm, I live in the south, too, and just recently put all my cardigans away. It's going to get way too hot for them. Also too hot, eventually for the long sleeved shirts and they have been put away, too.

I don't take my outfits (or myself) seriously enough to take pictures of them- or with me in them.

Roy, I am sure that there are lots of men who don't take their outfits that seriously, and for whom discussions of style are just not that interesting. But for those of us who love style or have a passion for it, taking pictures might be helpful. Because we are taking a challenge together, we get to take part in all kinds of discussions we might not normally be a part of, and that's one of the things I like about this challenge.

Interesting idea! I live in a sunny part of the world, with no real winter clothes. But this got me thinking about handling other areas of my life I stash away. Thanks!
