Should Black Women Get Color Analyzed? My Thoughts

One reason color analysis can be a challenge for women of color is that color analysts, in the past, have been taught to believe that women of color are likely to fall into the deep seasons. I suppose that that is because their coloring is often deeper than that of Caucasian women.

But it's a mistake to assume that means anything, because it is each woman's relationship to other colors that matters, not how she compares to other women.

When you use color analysis - free of bias - to analyze a women of color's relationship to other colors, you'll find that they fit into every category.

Color Analysis for Women of Color

Because they have failed to get a fair shake for so long on the color analysis world, I am specializing in working with women of color. If you know my own color analysis story, you'll know that I was misdiagnosed when I was much younger and gave many years away to wearing the wrong colors because of it. I don't want that to keep happening to other women of color.

Have you ever been given the wrong colors, makeup or style advice?

See you tomorrow!

Love, Jeanine

I have to admit, I never thought of black or white- and yes, everyone should should get color analyzed! We are all HUMAN first, we are ALL alive and breathing. We ALL need to step out as our best selves. Maybe having our color analyzed will put everyone into the correct and friendly state of mind and accept others for oh I don't know who they are and not their color. Having been part of a weekly meetup with fellow veterans and being the minority (lacking pigmentation in my skin, if you will, I have thought of the fellow women in the group as my sisters, and looked at them not as black, white or polka dotted but as my fellow warriors who signed on the dotted line to serve in our military....and heck our color is no longer GREEN, we have our own colors we must find and show the world! To bring this to my passion- the dogs- our dogs are not color blind but they accept all colors and even our dogs may respond better when they wear a read harness or collar than maybe a grey one or such! LOL

I love what you said, that, "we have our own colors we must find and show the world." I agree with you, wholeheartedly.

I have had peot suggest I should try makeup but after 71 years of never wearing it, I'm fine. As for getting a color analysis everyone should have the opportunity to get one, skin color shouldn't matter.

No need to wear makeup if you would rather not do so! And absolutely, everyone should be able to be analyzed, regardless of skin color. But my reference was to the fact that there is a tendency for women of color to be analyzed incorrectly. Given that that is the case, should black women keep trying? That's really the question. What I did about that was to develop expertise in working with women of color.

Oh, it doesn't? I didn't know that. I do virtual color analysis, so I can analyze anyone who is anywhere as long as they are connected to the Internet.

Yes, I've been given the wrong color, makeup & style advice in the past and I swear for awhile I ran around looking like Bozo the Clown's sister!
Great article.

    Hi, I'm Jeanine Byers :)

I'm an author,  Christian image consultant, proud former homeschool boy mom of a college student, Hallmark movie fan and big cuppa tea drinker.

I believe that creating your signature style is a spiritual calling. It's about seeing yourself as God does and delighting in your own beauty and style.

I'm specializing in color analysis and signature style for black women.

As women of color, we often aren't analyzed correctly when we receive color analysis. And all of our lives, we have been given sometimes subtle, and sometimes more overt societal messages about not meeting the cultural standards of beauty.

My mission is to help you discover, embrace and celebrate your own beauty and style.

Thanks for dropping by! I'll see you soon.

    Love, Jeanine
