Spring 10x10 Challenge: Week Three Swap Out

Each Saturday, I have been sharing my experiences as I take the 10x10 spring capsule wardrobe challenge. Well, I'm three weeks in now, and I am still hanging in there with the challenge, but I did have to make a little switcheroo...

My 10x10 Swap Out

As you can see, in one of my pictures, I have added a second, outer layer. Though this cardigan is not one of my ten choices, I put it in the closet to wear on any chilly days we might have. Surprisingly, we have had a few!

And it has been happening so often that I decided during the week to swap out a top I hadn't worn so that I could make this rust cardi an actual part of my 10-piece capsule.

I swapped out my oatmeal-colored button down top. I figured that if I hadn't worn it yet, there was a good chance I wasn't going to, and I might as well exchange it for something the weather had proven I would keep wearing.

Here's What I Wore this Week

My Favorite Outfits this Week

Picture
Of my outfits this week, I'd say my favorites were the cool-morning ones with my rust-colored cardigan and my denim jacket. And the terracotta striped top layered over my olive one.

I really like layering, but just can't always do it with the painfully hot temps in the warmer seasons.

What was your favorite outfit this week?

By the way, I apologize for the sometimes grainy quality of my pics. My photographer, also known as beloved son, is not always available. :)

But sometimes, I am wearing even more vibrant color than the picture indicates. For example, the picture above, that I took with my iPad, is a close-up of the same outfit in one of the other pics, & I am wearing four colors.

Can you tell I'm thinking, "please let this one not look ridiculous," and that it wasn't my first try? A photog, I'm not!

See you tomorrow!

Love, Jeanine

Yeah, it really isn't, Amrita! And I do not always get it right, for sure. Thanks!! I appreciate that.

I really like your denim jacket! Is that embroidered trim? It won't be long here in central Texas where my wardrobe will be mostly shorts and t-shirts, but I do need to go through and just keep the ones that I wear the most.

Oh, thanks! Yes, it is and that's part of the reason why I bought it all those years ago. Well, the heat will be here, soon, too, and that will mean the end of my long-sleeved cardigans and jackets. Yes, I think it makes getting dressed much easier when you weed out what you're not going to wear.

I like that rust jacket Jeanine and I think that would look great with the mustard striped top also.

Thanks!! You know, I have been thinking about trying them together, but just didn't feel sure. But hey, maybe I can try that sometime next week. I think I'll go put them together in my closet tonight, so I won't forget. Thanks for the idea!

It's been interesting reading your experience going through the capsule challenge. I haven't always commented. Since we're still getting snow off and on and freezing nights here in Michigan I'd be keeping an extra layer piece or two, too.

Thanks, Kat!! Yes, I can imagine you would need layers. If you were doing a 10x10, you might do several cardigans or jackets as part of your 10-piece capsule.

I believe that creating your signature style is a spiritual calling. It's about seeing yourself as God does and delighting in your own beauty and style.

I'm specializing in color analysis and signature style for black women.

As women of color, we often aren't analyzed correctly when we receive color analysis. And all of our lives, we have been given sometimes subtle, and sometimes more overt societal messages about not meeting the cultural standards of beauty.

My mission is to help you discover, embrace and celebrate your own beauty and style.

Thanks for dropping by! I'll see you soon.

    Love, Jeanine
