Practicing in Color During the Spring 10x10 ChallengeMy style type, gamine, goes by different names in different systems. But one thing they all have in common is an emphasis on vibrant color, atypical color combinations and mixed patterns. So this was my goal last month - to create a 10-piece spring capsule wardrobe that would help me make maximum use of color and patterns and prints, and to use that to experiment with lots of different combinations. In doing so, I learned two things... (1) I can, indeed, handle a lot of rich, vibrant color, and different combinations of patterns and prints. (2) They need to be rich, and don't work as well if they are muted, even if that muted color or color combination is in my autumn color palette. (3) I need contrast, but as an autumn, it needs to be medium contrast. It would be tempting to create wildly contrasting color combinations because I am a gamine style type. But the autumn rules come first, so to speak. (4) Speaking of wildness, all that color and pattern mixing still needs to be carefully planned. It can't be chaotic. There needs to be harmony between the colors and resonance, even if the combinations are atypical. (5) A combination of three is better than a combination of two (colors, patterns and/or prints) most of the time. What about Your Color Palette? What have your experiments been like with color and color palettes? Are you using a color palette now, in your capsule wardrobe?
See you next time! Love, Jeanine

I loved following your wardroom capsule throughout the UBC Jeanine! While I don't have mine set up yet I'm working on purging my closet from the cloths that have been untouched for years! When I'm done with that I will be able to see what I have left, maybe add a few things to my "capsule" and make the old and new work together! I hope you are planning on a fall capsule! Hugs to you!!

I totally do! And let's hope I don't buy any more clothes before then, LOL. Looking forward to hearing about where you land with your own capsule.

I enjoyed all of the capsule wardrobe posts. That was something that I never considered for myself because I buy most of my clothing at garage sale or people give me clothes. But it could be fun to mix and match pieces to create some sort of capsule wardrobe.
