Have you started thinking about your spring capsule wardrobe yet? Though it may not feel like spring, the calendar tells us its on the way, and those warmer temperatures will be here before you know it. The stores and catalogs are already filled with spring wear, so it's not too early to begin planning your spring color capsule. This post, with color trend information from House of Colour, will help you get started. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Once you've chosen your color palette, write down your plan using the free printable wardrobe planner. ~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Spring Forecast: Three Color Trends for Spring & Summer(1) Brights: Bright colors will be popular in the coming warm season. You can wear them as accent colors, in your accessories or pops of color here and there. Or, you can wear them as main colors that create a bold statement in your spring outfit formulas. (2) Pastels: Pastel colors will be popular, too. So you may see blues, pinks and other pastel colors this spring. (3) Color Blocking: You can pair two bright colors together, or two pastels, if you'd prefer, for a softer color blocking look. Here are some color mixing ideas from House of Colour that you can wear this spring... Wear warm reds with olive green. Wear burgundy with lilac. Wear your blues with coral. Wear warm neutral shades with pops of a brighter color. Choose from Your Own Color Palette![]() As you begin to consider how you might use these trends in your own spring capsule wardrobe, remember to choose the brights or pastels in your own color palette. So, if you have warm coloring, choose a warmer bright color, or a pastel (lighter, tinted) color from your own palette. Your brights may not be as bright as what you are seeing in the stores, but they will be bright on you. And the same is true for your best pastels. For example, before I began to wear them, I didn't understand why my pastels were pastel, and I wouldn't have thought any kind of pastel color would work for me, but on me, they are perfect. In the picture of my Gamine Autumn pastels that I got from David Zyla, you can see that these light, warm colors don't look like the colors that might come to mind when you hear the word pastel, but they are for me. What are your pastels? What are your brights? Color Blocking: Keep Your Contrast Level in MindIs low, medium or high contrast best for you? Keep that level of contrast in mind as you put together your spring color capsule and plan your outfit formulas. For example, don't pair a white blouse with a black pair of jeans if low contrast is what you need. And similarly, avoid a tonal look if it's high contrast you need. Always personalize any fashion trend, so that you look your very best when you try it out. Are These Spring Color Trends for You?No matter what your color palette is, or your level of contrast, there are ways to try these spring color trends if they appeal to you. But if they don't appeal, or fit your sense of style, then give them a miss this year. What you can do, instead, is choose lighter versions of your favorite palette colors, and you will still feel like you are giving your wardrobe a fresh, new feel for spring. But always shop your closet first, to see what you already have. Wishing you a happy spring (capsule wardrobe!) Love, Jeanine

I suggest starting from scratch, for anyone not sure what kind of color blocking will work for you. Try a lighter color with a darker version of it, like my own favorites: light olive plus a medium olive. Then, maybe two different colors, but not far apart, like camel and coffee brown. Then, try that brown with the olive. If they all work, you can feel free to experiment a little more wildly. If not, stay with the level of contrast that seemed to work best.

I am wearing a very vivid pink cardigan whose color I don't know, but it definitely brightens me up. Now my mind is thinking in new directions once again! THANK YOU!

I bet your cardigan is beautiful! I love that what we wear can have an impact on how we feel. That's my biggest interest in style, to be honest. Glad I have given you new ideas!

I'm so looking forward to it feeling like spring here in Michigan, and wearing lighter, brighter clothing!
