Style Personality Series: The Jeanine Blend

Picture

This week, I have posted a blog series dedicated to style personality and identifying your own personal style: the Pure Natural, the Creative Original, the Classic Modern and the Style Fashionista.

In one of the posts, I mentioned that one of the style personality types was my own, but I added that I am actually a blend, and wondered if anyone would guess which of the other three was part of my style personality blend. Not very many readers guessed, but there was one person who shared her own combination and it turned out to be the exact same as mine.

That fellow blogger was my good friend, Alice, who blogs at Alice's Grand Adventures. We both participate most times in the Ultimate Blog Challenge and I love reading her blog posts about her everyday adventures.

She and I are both Pure Natural and Creative Original style personality blends.

The woman who blends Pure Natural and Creative Original in one style personality is likely both to dress for comfort and to want her outfits to express her own creative style. She may put together outfits no one else would, but she will be comfortable each time she does it. She may mix colors, patterns or prints you wouldn't think to wear together, but you might also noticed how relaxed or comfy she seems. Maybe even huggably so.

Except for my platform maryjanes - which I hardly ever wear - I only wear flats. And I have only worn knitwear for well over two decades now.

Pretty much ever since I discovered them and realized they felt like wearing pajamas. Sold!

Notice that in this outfit, I have blended an olive floral neck scarf, a leopard print duster and a green-but-not-quite-olive striped dress. Although for some reason, the dress plus my hair makes me think of Ethel Merman, that's okay, because I loved the combination almost as soon as I put it on.

So everything's coming up roses and daffodils.

Having read the style personality series this week, do you agree that that is my most likely blend?

Someone suggested style fashionista and I agree that I have some touches of it - but true style fashionistas will tolerate discomfort in the name of style, and I just cannot do that. Whenever I get the idea into my head, whatever I have added on, comes off before I leave the house. Want to know the number one uncomfy thing I would wear if I was willing to do it?

Hats. And similar things like barrettes, headbands, etc. Can not do it!

Do you think you might be a style blend? If so, which ones?

Have a great weekend and I'll see you Monday!

Love, Jeanine

I cannot mix patterns well, but I do like this outfit of yours -- it looks very easy! I'm still Pure Natural, but maybe with some Classic Modern thrown in (for church ). I admit, I have gotten more and more casual as time as gone on, since I am a stat-at-home-mom and homeschooling. I do need to get out more - ha!

Thanks! A homeschooling mom needs to dress casually, in my opinion. I certainly did! But I think thee is nothing wrong, at all, with dressing casually. You can be very casual and still look fantastic!

I believe I am the same blend as you.

That's awesome, Carol! So far, that's three of us all doing the blog challenge. Coincidence? I wonder. Maybe we are the blend most likely to be writers.

Yes. I think that you’re onto something with writers. It looks like we really want to use our clothes to tell stories. We become visual representatives of the word pictures that we have drawn. I hadn’t thought of it until you pointed it out here.

Oh! What a neat thought, Alice. I definitely want to do that.

you make it look so easy, Janine! I think of myself as Town & Country Romantic: classic silhouettes and simple pieces with distinctive/creative accents (earrings, bracelets, belts, scarves). Comfy shoes a must, too, sister! No hats, except for a fab witchy hat I made for a party one Halloween!

You know, I remember a Town and Country outfit my mom bought me once, for some special occasion high school event. It was a nice light blue sweater with a light blue plaid skirt. Both were wool, I believe. I felt so impressed to be wearing something "only rich people wear," because who else would shop at *that* store, that I was willing to tolerate the scratchiness for my brief moment in the sun, LOL. But these four types don't have a Romantic among them. So it sounds to me like you are a Classic Modern with a romantic interpretation. Classic, but feminine style. Neat! I'm glad you get the whole comfy shoes thing. :)

Jeanine, aha! I think I'm closest to your very own style blend, although I never use stripes with florals or animal prints. I hope you're going to keep on writing about fashion styles, b/c I need to puzzle this out a bit more. I get overwhelmed, trying to keep the styles straight. (emoji for laughing out loud)

Oh, that's great, Kebba! Well, that makes four of us. And you are a writer, too, and how! So I think I'm onto something there. Well, that's the thing, though, Kebba. How a Creative Original mixes prints or patterns or creates the outfits others wouldn't think of, may differ from person to person. So it's okay that you wouldn't do it the way I do.

I like your outfits above. I tend not to do many patterns except as an accent -- I am 5'11 so it tends to overwhelm!

Oh, thanks so much!! I know what you mean! I avoid big patterns and prints, myself, so they don't overwhelm me.

I love this specific blended fashion personality type. So cute and SOOO you! I am not sure what I would be... and I love hats, by the way. I have been wearing a hat for hiking and people ALWAYS comment on it. I even posted on facebook and wrote "I know, my hat is cute." LOLOL

Awww! Thank you, Julie!! That's neat that you wear hats. I used to wear Ann Marie's hairstyle (That Girl), and I wished I could wear it with headbands. And the fascinator hats just call to me. But I answer back, "No way, dear!" LOL. I bet you do look cute in hats.

I love your picture in the leopard and olive! I'm working on trying new things but since I'm pure natural it's hard! But I'm cleaning my closet and organizing colors!

Oh, thank you, Martha!! Well, I know what you mean. I have some sameness going on, too. I tend to repeat the same daily uniform - a duster, a top, a pair of leggings and flats. I do like to get creative with the patterns, so at least there is that, but the uniform almost always stays the same. I even want to get some long vests so I can keep it going in the summer. I'm glad you're organizing. Maybe try some cozy new tops in different colors this fall or winter. Let the warmth and coziness draw you in.

Oh, yes!! I realize I hadn't read your Creative Original post - yep!! I think that fits me as well - if choose comfort over fashion, and any day! And love to dress creatively!
I had these cute blue clogs which were ok if I just wore them one day, but wear them a couple, and my fascia would start to complain! I passed them on to a friend, with a warning, no more problems!

Oh, I love clogs! LOVE them!! But I can't wear them - they just aren't comfy enough. So we are simpatico, for sure. Sounds like you might be #5 in the pure natural and creative original blend.

    Hi, I'm Jeanine Byers :)

I'm an author,  Christian image consultant, proud former homeschool boy mom of a college student, Hallmark movie fan and big cuppa tea drinker.

I believe that creating your signature style is a spiritual calling. It's about seeing yourself as God does and delighting in your own beauty and style.

I'm specializing in color analysis and signature style for black women.

As women of color, we often aren't analyzed correctly when we receive color analysis. And all of our lives, we have been given sometimes subtle, and sometimes more overt societal messages about not meeting the cultural standards of beauty.

My mission is to help you discover, embrace and celebrate your own beauty and style.

Thanks for dropping by! I'll see you soon.
