The House Dress Series: Color Palettes for a Capsule Guide

The house dress is having a 2020 renaissance. "I think #stayathome made people realize that we need to not just dress to go outside — we need to dress to be inside, love what we wear and feel comfortable,"  - designer Malgosia Archer

House Dress Meets Military Olive

This week, we are talking about the return of the house dress. But which colors will we choose?

Military Olive is a Pantone color for fall and winter that you can wear whether you are Warm Dominant or Deep Dominant. Let's see what that might look like...

Fall Closet Outfit Planner

Are you familiar with the seasonal capsule wardrobe guides that sell for $20-$30 and tell which colors and styles to buy for that season? Some have a style theme, like minimalist or classic.

I own several. It's fun to have clothing suggestions, with links to actual clothes you can buy. I put together my fall and winter wardrobe with a capsule guide.

But there were several colors in the guide that I just had to ignore, because they aren't in my color palette.

Meet the Closet Outfit Planner...

Well, actually, there are six of them. One for each color dominance color palette. So once you know your color type, you can buy a capsule wardrobe guide and be able to wear every color in it.

Which colors would you want to see in a capsule guide?

See you tomorrow!

My favourite colour is blue. It brings out the colour of my eyes. As a child, I remember my first favourite jacket was a royal blue. I am not a fan of navy blue because it is so hard to distinguish from black.

Blue is a great color! Royal blue, specifically, is very pretty. I bet it goes well with your eyes.

I love all shades of blue! Now that I have been able to get out more, I am seeing this color of green everywhere.

Oh, neat! Well, I find the same thing. Once you have seen it and recognized a trend color, it seems to turn up everywhere you go.

My favorite color is black and more black. LOL I do own other colors but that's only because the outfit didn't come in black LOL

LOL! Wow, that's dedication. Well, the neat thing is that almost everything does come in black. Though I can wear black, it isn't one of my best colors. So, I am almost always looking for anything but black. Unfortunately, though, what I want is often only in black or charcoal, another color I avoid. So you are lucky you like it so much.

I would say blue or pink. Blue has always been my favorite color but the past few years I've gone to the pinks.

Neat! In the fall trend colors, the closest one to pink might be too deep for your coloring. It's a magenta purple, or plum. But there are two blues you might like.

Jeanine, my favorite wardrobe color for Fall/Winter seems to be a deep wine red. I wear a lot of black narrow-pants and leggings; this wine red brings up the energy even without a nice patterned scarf I might add with a gray tweed jacket I love.

    Hi, I'm Jeanine Byers :)

I'm an author,  Christian image consultant, proud former homeschool boy mom of a college student, Hallmark movie fan and big cuppa tea drinker.

I believe that creating your signature style is a spiritual calling. It's about seeing yourself as God does and delighting in your own beauty and style.

I'm specializing in color analysis and signature style for black women.

As women of color, we often aren't analyzed correctly when we receive color analysis. And all of our lives, we have been given sometimes subtle, and sometimes more overt societal messages about not meeting the cultural standards of beauty.

My mission is to help you discover, embrace and celebrate your own beauty and style.

Thanks for dropping by! I'll see you soon.

    Love, Jeanine
