The 10 x 10 Style Challenge™ is an exercise I established in 2015 to help encourage myself to get more creative with my clothes during a 30 Day Shopping Fast. The concept is essentially a mini capsule closet of 10 items that you work with for 10 days, creating new looks and styling your clothes in ways you might not otherwise try.- StyleBee.ca

I first found out about the 10x10 mini capsule challenge when I saw posts about it on Pinterest.

Though I have tried it in the past, I had never used it as a way to practice new outfit formulas I hoped would become a permanent part of my signature style.

Why I Did the Challenge

I chose ten of my favorites and spent an evening creating the outfit formulas I want to try. You only need ten, but I came up with 17 or 18 different outfit possibilities.

I knew I was on the right track when I began to feel excited about wearing them.

My goal was to focus on mixing patterns and creating vibrant color combinations, so that's what I used to create & build the outfit formulas. 

Then, I shared each outfit I wore and decided whether it worked well or not. Want to try your own 10x10 capsule?

Here's How to Take the Challenge

(1) Choose ten items of clothing from your closet and put your other clothes aside, so you won't get tempted.

(2) Choose ten days, or any amount of time you want & wear only those clothes during that time.

(3) Share your outfits on your blog, or on social media, and link to them in comments on the April Saturday posts, here on The Capsule Wardrobe Blog. Or just tell us how it's going.

(4) Use this experience to refine your style and create new outfit formulas (click here if you want some outfit formula ideas - totally free).

(5) When the challenge has ended, make any changes you need to in order to improve your capsule wardrobe, and then try the challenge again! :)
